Wish You Were Here: Karla Spetic

We’re not sure about you, but at Poppet HQ, we’re majorly on the countdown to Christmas holidays. It’s going to be non-stop beaching, BBQ-ing and, yeah, a  fair bit of beer-ing.

To get us right into the mood we’ve asked some of our favourite people to give us the lowdown on what they’ll be doing this Christmas break, along with sharing a little holiday inspiration, and of course, their ultimate summer playlist….

First cab off the ranks is gorgeous designer Karla Spetic, who also just happens to have launched her very first, very fabulous, swimwear range. Just perfect for a long hot summer…

Where will you be spending your holidays this year?

I’ll be spending a week at my mums on the Sunshine Coast.  There, I will most likely go to Sunrise Beach and Noosa. Visiting her friend who has the most incredible crystal collection and choosing a new crystal for my home. Then I will return to Sydney, go on a road trip with my boyfriend, somewhere on the South Coast, maybe Jervis Bay, and learn to surf.

Most memorable holiday?

Colombia, it was an incredible and colourful holiday.

The people are so warm and joyous and full of life.  The country side is so green and lush, simply beautiful.  I had never seen so many crazy coloured snakes slithering by.

I loved the little houses with the most incredible, intense and mismatched use of colour, they were so inspiring.

They have so many cool stores with Pre Colombian art, sculptures, pottery and gold jewels. And some of the best coffee I’ve had.

Ultimate holiday destination?

I would love to go to Biarritz, South Western France, followed by Barcelona.  I like the idea of French and Spanish fusion, it’s intriguing. And I am longing to see the incredible Gaudi masterpieces.

What are your must pack items for holidays?

A well cut bright bikini, a pair of Springcourts, lightweight tracksuit pants, t shirts, sandals, sunnies and a jumpsuit.

Top 5 summer songs?

1.     On The Sea, Beach House

2.     Strawberry Letter, The Brothers Johnson

3.     Summertime, Sam Cooke

4.     Anemone, The Brian Jonestown Massacre

5.     Surf Rider, The Lively Ones

Favourite holiday reading material?

The Gentlewoman. And I’ll be finishing ‘The Secret Doctrine’ by H.P. Blavatsky

And lastly….what’s your ultimate summer cocktail?

Anything fruity, fresh, sweet and zingy…with lot’s of lime!!
